Is this empathy?!

I know this isn't an animal psychology forum, but...

Not only did the Buffalo understand that the Tortoise should be the other way up, but the Buffalo decided that it wanted the Tortoise to be the right way up, enough for it to go to the trouble of kneeling down and exerting itself by trying to flip the Tortoise - the Buffalo clearly thought that things would be better if the Tortoise was the right way up - is this empathy?!

Not sure about empathy, how about altruistic behavior? Many animals, dogs, porpoises, and many others exhibit altruistic behavior. I am not aware of any studies describing empathy in animals, but certainly seems to be altruistic bahavior...
